Getting started in your new Internet blogging business is easier than you might think. When I say easy, I mean the process or the road map. Once you know how to do it and where to go with it, the actual work fall in place.

1. KISS! The old army saying, keep it simple, stupid! Works here. Let's face it, if you have gotten this far you are not stupid and keeping it simple is the last thing you feel like doing. If you are like me, it is very exciting making a buck writing about my passion, or writing which is my passion! Finally there is a market for all of my hard work!

There is so much information out there it is hard for a rocket scientist to keep it straight. One key for me was figuring it all out and not going too many directions at once. Spotting horse pukey when you see it is a big help. Once you have clicked on enough links that are horse S@@@ you will learn to avoid these time wasters!

2. Acquire a domain name and a host. You can buy it, or you can find it for free. It is not as difficult to get a domain name and host as it used to be. There is more competition every day as the internet, which we didn't even know about, grows. If you can't find a domain and host for free you can certainly obtain it for a small investment, say $5.00 to 50.00 a month.

If you don't want to spend the bucks then start with then just start with Blogger or Wordpress. Blogger and Word press are good places to start! You might try blue host http://www.bluehost.com/

3. There are some excellent programs out now that make web page design a lot easier. Blogger and word press have easy web page design tools that don't cost a cent! There are also text writers you can get for free or for cheap that will do the same things. The benefit is, some text writers works off line, so you can write even when you don't have access to the Internet!

4. What are you going to put on your website? Pictures plus at least 50 articles is my recomendation. The more articles you have the more fishing lines into the advertising and revenue community you castw.

It is best to write articles with relevant staying power to start. News articles are old the minute you print them. The value is short lived. While people may research them one day, they are old news.

Articles of a general nature will have lasting value. How to's, like a cooking article, how to build a dresser, how to create a corporation, how to design a web site, how to grow a garden, how to build a boat, all have lasting value on the Internet. So do short storys and poetry.

Robbing content. They used to call this plagiarism. The old rule about plagiarism applies: You can plagiarize to your heart's content if you tell the reader where you got the information and who wrote it! "Reprinting" articles is technically not plageurism. It may be a copyright infringement, be sure to watch for a copyright notice on the bottom of your informaiton source. The point is, if you are going to copy, don't make someone else's writing yours! But don't be afraid to reprint excerpts of well written pieces that help make your point. Just be honest about who the author is!

Good content separates the men from the boys. It used to be you could slap anything up on the net and some fool would click on it. Readers are becoming

sophisticated in determining what is mumbo jumbo and what is quality content. Do your research, add quality links, give the reader a bang for his buck and he will be back!

5 Ads and affiliate programs. You will bump into a thousand places offering affiliate ads while you do your article research. Although it is distracting, I like to play around with the ads and my layout as I go along. I start learning about what works and what does not from the get go!

Do your research. The company that is hot today maybe old hat or broke tomorrow.

6. Get your newsletter set up. You want to build an email list so you can keep your readers informed on your progress. The email list will serve as a sort of arbitron circulation rating for yourself. You will know how many people are getting your email newsletter as some sign on and others ask to be let off.

Getresponse is an old time email program. It will generate automatic email replies to those who sign up for your email list. There are two forms of the product, one free, the other cost a few bucks.

The problem with the free one is they will insert their own ads. You already have competition for ads, why put more in? But you have to start somewhere.

7. Establish an RSS feed or syndication fee. They refer to RSS as 'really simple syndication'. It actually means Rich Site Summary and is a format for delivering regularly changing web content.

If your reader can hit a button and get your latest articles then she will tune in more than if she has to go find the site again. There are a host of RSS synidators, find the one or more that work for you!

8. Article directories are a great way to get track backs to your website. The directory will allow you to write an article for them with a track back to your web page.

The secret here is to provide valuable content in the original article. That way the reader will follow you back to your web page. If you put mindless non-sense in your article, the reader will conclude your website is the same!

Try ezine articles http://ezinearticles.com/Write Buzz.com is by invitation only. The way you get an "invite" is to submit your email and see if they like you. http://www.buzz.com/ It can't hurt to 'apply' and see what happens.

Another good one is http://www.goarticles.com/ Since I am trying to keep this simple I won't fill up the page with endless tags.

If you do these things you will have a foundation for your new skyscraper of a publishing business. You can use a more complicated plan. Most of them are going to boil down to what you have right here on this page!
